Civic Center ANNOUNCES NEW YOUTH BROADWAY SUMMER CAMP FOR STUDENTS WITH AN EYE FOR THE STAGE
Registration opens for Broadway camp for students ages 14-19; led by professional Broadway performers
 
DES MOINES, Iowa –The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines announced today registration is now open for STAGEright BROADWAY CAMP - a new youth summer camp for students interested in musical theater. The camps are designed to provide participants ranging in age from 14-19 with unique and lasting theater experiences facilitated by Broadway professionals. Camp registrations are open now online at CivicCenter.org.
 
 
STAGERIGHT BROADWAY CAMP
June 27-July 1, 2011
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Friday: 11 a.m. to showcase finale
Ages: 14-19
 
Fee: $375 ($350 for Civic Center Members) and includes breakfast, lunch & snack each day
 
Find out if the stage is right for you in this intensive musical theater camp led by Broadway professionals.  Three Broadway performers — taking the roles of acting coach, music director, and choreographer— will lead a series of master classes on the triple threat skills of musical theater. Sing, dance, and act your way through a week which also features audition techniques, professional headshots, and once-in-a-lifetime networking. Completing the week-long camp will be a Friday evening showcase for family and friends gives you the opportunity to put your hard work and new skills in the spotlight.

STAGEright is open to teens ages 14-19 (must be entering at least 9th grade fall 2011) who are highly interested in musical theater. Auditions are not required to participate; however, previous training or experience is necessary. Each participant is also expected to prepare a short monologue and 1-2 songs for the week.
 
 
A limited number of scholarships to either camp will be available based on need.
