Group Sales Frequently Asked Questions

 

ORDER PLACING QUESTIONS

How many tickets need to be ordered to receive a group discount?

The Civic Center defines a group as 20 or more tickets to the same performance.  However, some shows (including performances at the Civic Center's Temple Theater at the Temple for Performing Arts) have a lower minimum and are noted accordingly on our Web site.

When can I make a reservation to an upcoming show?
Once a show has been announced on our Web site, you may make a reservation for your group. 


Is there a handling fee with group sales orders?

A handling fee of $1 per ticket will be charged per order.


Is there a deposit required to reserve group sales tickets?

Deposits are no longer required! Effective immediately when placing a group order, a deposit is no longer require to hold your group's tickets.


Is handicapped accessible or special needs seating available?

YES!  Special needs seating is available upon request.  Please let us know if anyone in your group needs accessible seating. Please call us to determine your specific needs.


Are hearing devices available?

Hearing devices are available for use and can be reserved in advance.



CONTRACT QUESTIONS

What do I do once I receive my contract?

If you need to make any corrections to your contract, please do so as quickly as possible.  After that initial time period, you may only make changes when you are making your final payment.  Tickets can be added or subtracted at this time only.  We suggest over-estimating the number of tickets you wish to reserve - this way tickets will be located together as a group.


Can I receive a refund on my group tickets?

Group tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.


Who do I contact if the deposit is not sent by the due date?

Please contact the group sales department to make other arrangements if the deposit will not be received by our ticket office on or before the due date listed on your contract.


Can my reservation be cancelled for any reason?

Ticket reservations will automatically be canceled without notice if scheduled payments aren't received by the due dates.


 

FINAL PAYMENT/TICKET DISTRIBUTION QUESTIONS

When are the final payments due?

In general, most shows have a deadline for final payments four weeks prior to your selected performance.  Please note, each show is unique and may have payments due at their discretion.  If this is the case, it will be noted in your contract.


How do I make my final payment?

The Civic Center requires that payment be submitted in one of the following forms: credit card, personal or business check or money order made out to The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Purchase orders are not accepted.

What if I need to add tickets to my contract after my final payment has been made?
You may add additional tickets at this time at the FULL ticket price, no group discount will be given.  The only time you can receive the discount when adding tickets is when you are making your final payment.


When will I receive the tickets?

Tickets will be mailed to the address on the account within 48 hours of receiving the final payment.


Where do I pick up my tickets if the final payment is not received on time?

If payment isn't received in time to mail tickets to the group leader, tickets will be held at the Civic Center Ticket Office Will-Call window for pick-up. (Ten business days prior to the performance) One designated person will be able to pick the tickets up, and must have a valid photo ID.


 

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS

Can I add additional tickets to my group sales order?

You may add additional tickets after the final payment has been made only at the FULL ticket price - there will be no group discount will be given.  The only time you can receive the discount when adding tickets is when you are making your final payment.

When does my group need to arrive at the performance?

Plan to arrive no later than one-half hour prior to the start of the show. The performances begin promptly at the time listed on the tickets; groups arriving late will be seated at an appropriate time in the show.


Where do I park a school bus or motor coach?

If you will be traveling by school bus or motor coach, please contact us prior to your arrival to receive instructions for dropping off your group and parking.


Are there any advertising/publicity materials available?

All advertising/publicity materials are available for use. Please allow the Civic Center to review your materials prior to usage. Approval must be provided by the Civic Center in writing. This includes show logos.


Please contact the group sales department if you would like promotional materials (based on availability).
