IN-SCHOOL ARTIST EXPERIENCE: Newsmakers Residency
Benjamin Franklin was one of the first journalists in colonial America. His understanding of the importance of the freedom of the press and his willingness to present more than one side of an issue played a key role in establishing the foundation for modern American news coverage. In this multi-day residency led by TV and radio news veteran Jay Villwock, students will have the opportunity to explore the nature of news reporting today. Students will practice conveying ideas and information by writing and then delivering their own news stories in front of a camera as if they were a TV reporter.
