APPLAUSE SERIES RESERVATION GUIDELINESAdmission Performances in the Applause Series occur during the school day and are open to educators and students in public, private, and home school groups. All seats are $1.00, and reservations are required to attend a show.
Applause performances are not open to the general public, and tickets are not available through the Civic Center’s Ticket Office. Chaperone tickets must be requested by the contact teacher at the time the reservation is made; parents who contact the Civic Center directly will not be able to reserve seats with their children’s school group.
Recommended grade levels
Recommendations regarding appropriate grade levels for each performance are made by the performance companies in conjunction with the Civic Center Education staff. If you wish to bring students outside the recommended grade levels, please contact the Education staff to discuss the performance content.
Infants and young children
Applause Series performances are intended for school-age audiences. For this reason, as well as to ensure the best possible experience for all audience members, children under the age of three will not be permitted in the theater. In keeping with the grade level recommendations, some performances may not be appropriate for very young children.
Reservations and confirmation
Beginning May 18, 2011, educators may submit ticket requests for the 2011-2012 Applause Series through the Civic Center’s website. To ensure that tickets requests are processed as accurately as possible in the order in which they are received, only ticket requests submitted online will be accepted. Groups are welcome to contact the Education staff via phone (515.246.2355) to ask any questions relating to the 2011-2012 season, but all ticket requests must then be submitted via the online order form. Ticket requests submitted via email will not be accepted.
When making a reservation for your group, be sure to include all the students, teachers, aides, chaperones, and bus drivers who will be attending the performance with your group. Everyone who enters the theater must have a seat included in the reservation. If an adult accompanies the group but chooses to sit in the lobby during the performance, he or she does not need to be included in the reservation.
Your ticket request will be processed within 5 business days. If your request can be filled, both you and the school principal (if applicable) will receive a confirmation email with an invoice and a copy of the Civic Center’s Applause Series policies attached. The invoice serves as confirmation of your group’s reservation, and actual tickets for Applause Series performances are not issued. If your request cannot be filled for any reason, you will be contacted regarding alternate performance options.
Waitlists
Once a performance is listed as “sold out” on the website, you may submit a request online to be added to the waitlist. Groups will be added to the waitlist in the order in which they submit a request. Please note that all waitlist requests are processed upon receipt, however confirmation emails are not sent.
If there is additional availability for a sold-out performance, groups will be moved from the waitlist and their ticket requests filled in the order in which they were received. There is no guarantee if or when availability may arise, but groups will be informed as promptly as possible if their waitlist requests can be filled. Once you receive notice regarding availability for your group, you will have three business days to inform the Education staff whether or not you would like the seats. After three business days, your seats will be released and offered to the next group on the waitlist.
Accessibility
One of the Civic Center’s main goals is to make performances enjoyable for and accessible to as many people as possible. If you require special seating accommodations, please describe the type of accommodation needed when completing your ticket request. If you become aware of a special needs seating request after making your reservation, please notify the Education staff as soon as possible. Please note that ASL interpretation is provided upon request and requires approximately four weeks to arrange.
Tours and lunches
School groups comprised of students in grades 3 and above may request a brief 30-minute tour following select Applause Series performance. Space is limited and registration is requried; tour requests should be included with the group's ticket request.
Post-performance tours are most engaging and appropriate for students in grades 3 and above. Tours are available for groups of all ages on non-performance days; please contact the Education Department at education@civiccenter.org to request such a tour. The Civic Center has limited space available for school groups to eat lunch after the morning (10:00 AM) performance or before the afternoon (12:30 PM) performance on Applause Series show days. Space is limited, and registration is required. Lunch space requests should be included with the group’s ticket request. Please note, lunch space is not available for shows occurring at the Temple Theater located in the Temple for the Performing Arts.
Study guides
Professionally-written study guide materials are available for all shows in the Applause Series. All school groups with reservations for a show will receive an email notification when the study guide is posted on the Civic Center’s website, approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the performance day. Study guides are only printed and mailed upon request. |
